I&#8217;m left here alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skin and bone, are the only things that stay with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are no more. We become what I was before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sore on my mother&#8217;s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her birth pains from the very start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those screams are not of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Theres no parade waiting, after they tell her it&#8217;s a boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deployed to fight in the world&#8217;s war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shipped away from the simple things, afar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they go home, they think their suffering is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s only then do they discover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Home is where you make it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Family can tell you it&#8217;s alright or fake it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They can&#8217;t really know what we go through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The men of this world meant to die, a public display for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is this how you treat your Messiah, when he has come to save?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trade him for a killer as you taunt and rave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the real story. I&#8217;m left here to tell it, like it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My illiteracy doesn&#8217;t allow me to hide behind words, like a spelling quiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they go home, they will be welcomed with open arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heroes for a day, all sins forgiven, no qualms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is, until the rent is late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who&#8217;s going to pay your bills, clean your slate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out there you have to carry your own weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whoever called it the free world, lied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reality is, there\u2019s a cost of living and a cost because he died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You all got to pay to play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you think you can still lounge around all day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living off the hard working tax payers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only we in prison are allowed this privilege, the non-players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, go home. Get out there and play the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll be here, living my best life, where everything remains the same&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching the world go around and down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As greedy men continue to find their worth in the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burying what little hope you may have had of a good life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At home most people live with anxiety and strife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In here, most people live with guilt and Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they go home, I pray they succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find a partner and fulfill each other\u2019s need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There or here the common gift gives us meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>True love that can do all the healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>by Chiron Francis, Texas<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When they go home.
